Moulds are used in the production of cistern bottoms and they are produced in pearlitic spheroidal cast iron.

The advantage of cast iron compared to steel is that, besides being cheaper, it creates less friction in the steel moulding phase; as a matter of fact, iron-steel contact is obviously more lubricated than steel-steel contact.
